Patterning

As a draper and pattern maker, I work with the materials, tools, and techniques used to create accurate patterns for 20th century garments. I am skilled in both draping on a dress form and drafting flat patterns, and I use these methods to translate designer renderings into clean, functional patterns that are ready to build.

My process includes analyzing silhouettes, determining grainlines, establishing style lines, and developing patterns that fit correctly on the intended body. I create full paper patterns, produce mockups, refine fit, and mark and notch all pieces so they can move smoothly into construction. I am confident handling basic and intermediate patterning projects and approach each build with careful problem solving, strong organization, and a professional workflow.
